The Success Story of ICOSS 2017
The 4th International Conference on Social Sciences 2017 organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka with the collaboration of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka as the hosting partner and State University of Semarang, Indonesia as the Academic Partner. The conference was held on the 21st and 22nd of September, 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. ICOSS 2017 was organized under the theme “Social Sciences: Towards a Sustainable and Prospective Future”, and was Chaired by Assoc. Prof. Tim Allender, Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney, Australia.
The keynote forum of ICFA 2017 was made by Prof. Deepak Kumar, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India.
The conference comprised of six technical sessions, during which researchers from around the world presented their research findings. The technical sessions were:
- Women and gender equality
- Social and community development
- Health and human well-being
- Quality education, child protection and welfare
- Corporate social responsibility, law and social justice
- Historical precursors of current social, economic and political issues and policy evolution
Assoc.Prof. Tim Allender
Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney, Australia.
Topic: “Teaching Historical Thinking in Australian Classrooms: Feminism, Global Human Rights and Ethics in the Asian context”
A/Prof. Tim Allender’s principal research over the past 20 years concerns Indian education. His latest monograph with Manchester University Press develops key gender, feminist and knowledge transfer themes concerning India.He has published earlier books, 16 international journal articles and 14 book chapters, illuminating other aspects of education in India.
Prof. Deepak Kumar
Jawaharlal Nehru University, India
Topic: “Melting Boundaries: Bringing Sciences Closer”
Deepak Kumar teaches history of science and education at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has researched, published and taught in this area for more than four decades.He is known for his books Science and the Raj (OUP, 1995) and The Trishanku Nation (OUP, 2016). In addition, he has edited several books on histories of technology, medicine and environment in the context of colonial India.

Conference Proceedings
All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference abstract book with ISBN. All full papers will be accepted through a double blind reviewed process and will be published electronically with ISSN in proceedings with a DOI Number (DOI prefix: 10.17501).
We will submit the proceedings to be indexed in the Thomson Reuters, SCOPUS, Mendeley, Google Scholar and CiteULike for possible Indexing.
Journal Publications
